Anyone can dream, but only a few can turn theirs into a reality… Ssonia Deshmukh, Director of Kala’s Dance Academy, has lived up to this reality. With fervent determination, Today, she is a successful and an elegant choreographer in the industry. Other than channeling her interest for the academy, she has been serving in this industry for the past 18 years, from educational institutions to corporates and wedding planning, she has done it all!

Along with her team, she has successfully taught the art of dance to more than 25k+ dancers across the country, running 7+ branches spread over Navi Mumbai and acting as a Dance Director for multiple National and International schools. She truly embodies a dancer at the soul and an entrepreneur at heart.

But, even though it sounds easy the journey wasn’t.

‘Dance is life’, being her only mantra, she developed her passion for this beautiful form of art at a tender age of 4. It later became an absolute, an indispensable part of her life, Becoming a very young choreographer in school while choreographing for various events like annual days, gave her a further advantage to chisel her skills.

Life is a roller-coaster ride, so was her life, where she had to face constant criticism from her family when she made a decision of choosing DANCE as her choice of career instead of the white collor jobs. When no one believed in it, she believed in herself, when life gave options, she chose her passion, when life was confusing, she had only one goal, to become a dancer and have an institution of her own where she can support others like her who wants to follow their dream and conquer their passion!

As it’s said that difficult time moulds you to face any difficult situations in life. Moving further in life, her next step was to hone her skills to excel in dance by joining SHIAMAK’S for 9 years. She can never thank enough for those wonderful years which has taught her to aim for the stars. While she was on her way to success, she also did pursue education which helped her to become the Dance Director for many schools. Gradually her parents did accept her dreams.

To further add golden feathers to her cap, she has also been the judge of honour at various events around the world—like Dubai Dance Fest 2017, Mood Indigo 2016, NIFT Conference 2017, Lokmat Jallosh 2017, Fest Fienza SIES, Runathon 2017, Navi Mumbai Dance Queen, Grand Baby Show, and Chief Guest at Ideal School event and at NIFT Conference Kashmir.

Today, Ms Ssonia Deshmukh has more than 70+ achievements on the fame wall with her own institution, KALA’s Dance Academy, Navi Mumbai, which is a stepping stone, a foundation, of making one’s dream come true and generous support provider for those who believe in their will, of conquering their love for DANCE.

Every choreographer dreams about having their own dance academy and a studio. Having a studio plays an integral part as they spend their majority of the time practicing, learning and teaching dance to their students. Ms. Ssonia Deshmukh also had dreamt of achieving a dance studio for potential dancers, for her students and further more for her team to practice and enhance their skills along with spreading happiness to others looking forward to having their own. Studio at Kala’s is a live platform, an aorta of dance.

The studio has witnessed everything from the time its foundation was laid and have stood along with Ms Ssonia Deshmukh at all times. For Ssonia, the studio is her achievement, her vision, her perspective and the future of the Academy, a place where a performer can see his/her future and career in dance. As thankful as she can be, she has only wanted to always be an inspiration for others in endearing their passion, to make one’s dream come true. Ms Ssonia Deshmukh’s immense efforts and hard work has paid off by building this studio, her patience from the past 9 years to have a studio as pure and beautiful along with a positive atmosphere and values to be imparted to all the learners has been the most challenging milestone that has been gracefully achieved.
